Crowd-finance your healthcare
Despite many advances in reducing the cost of care, hundreds of millions of people struggle to afford the care they need.
Traditional sources of funds to pay for treatments such as insurance and healthcare loans or credit cards are frequently not enough to cover the costs of treatment. Many of the credit options have high interest rates that can bankrupt patients.
Fortunately, there is a new option available: crowd-financing.
With crowd-financing, patients can get help to pay their medical bills with contributions from family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and others in the patient's social networks.
The success of crowd-financing is based on the fundamental concept that health and well-being are the best gifts that friends and family can give each other. As contributors have a personal connection to the recipient of care, they are more motivated to give compared with traditional charity.
What is the Atlas Patient Access Foundation?
The Atlas Patient Access Foundation (APAF) is committed to help reduce the burdens of specific healthcare costs by providing patients with the financial resources needed to access critical medical services. It is designed specifically for raising funds for healthcare costs with advantages over crowdfunding platforms including:
- Accountability – funds raised by patients are managed by the healthcare provider, not the patient, ensuring they are only used to pay for healthcare.
- Cost-effective – there are no additional fees to use the service. 100% of the donors contribution is credited to the patient's healthcare bill.
- Privacy – patients control who see their campaign, maintaining their privacy and dignity.
- Ease-of-use – an intuitive self-service user interface makes creating and managing a campaign easy.
- State-of-the-art – advanced patient coaching and artificial intelligence assistance are built into the user experience to increase campaign success.
How does it work?
Patients and/or their care-givers start a campaign and are coached in how to set it up to effectively raise funds.
When the campaign is ready to launch, it is submitted to the healthcare provider for approval with one click.
Once approved, the campaign is launched and the patient's fundraising team promotes the campaign to family, friends, and others in their social networks using private social media (email, text, messaging apps) or optionally via public social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
Supporters see the campaign and make a contribution. Their entire contribution (100%) goes to pay the patient's medical bills. Donors are asked for a completely optional payment to help keep access to this service free for patients.
The patient's team is notified of the gift so that they can thank the contributor.
Why wait?
Compared to traditional high-interest loans and credit cards, Atlas Patient Access Foundation collaborates with your healthcare provider to offer a free healthcare funding alternative for patients and their families.
Setting up a campaign takes only minutes. You will be guided through every step along the way.
This program is only available through participating healthcare providers. If you provider doesn't offer this program, ask them to contact us to learn more about how they can help their patients getter better access to care.

How does crowd-financing through APAF work?
- APAF, in partnership with Covenant Health and Atlas Health, invites eligible patients to create campaigns to crowd-finance their health.
- Patients and/or their care-givers start a campaign and are coached in how to set it up to effectively raise funds.
- Once the campaign is launched, the patient’s fundraising team promotes the campaign to family, friends, and others in their social networks using private social media (email, text, messaging apps), or via public social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) if they choose.
- Supporters see the campaign and make a contribution.
- The patient’s team is notified of the gift so that they can thank the contributor.
- When the campaign ends, the funds raised are sent to Covenant Health to pay the patient's bill.
Is my privacy protected?
Privacy is a top priority for APAF. We do not disclose any information to any third parties except those necessary to run our platform. Additionally, we don’t have access to medical information outside of what is included in a bill and what patients and their supporters choose to post to our crowd-financing platform.
Who receives the funds donated?
All donations are remitted to APAF. We then use those funds to pay Covenant Health directly to cover this patient's bills. Funds are never sent to the patient, or their family members.
What happens if a campaign raises more than its goal?
Excess funds raised in each campaign will be used by Atlas Patient Access Foundation to support other qualified patients in need.
What happens if a campaign doesn’t reach its goal?
You have no risk. Whatever amount is raised will go to Covenant Health and be applied toward this patient's bill. Even if it doesn’t cover it completely, the patient is that much closer to meeting their objectives.
Are donations tax deductible?
Donations are not tax deductible. The IRS does not allow donations that provide personal benefit to be deducted.
Is there a cost to use crowd-financing?
There is no cost to patients, or donors. 100% of every donation goes to pay the patient’s medical bills. Donors are asked for a completely optional contribution to APAF – a 501(c)(3) public charity – to help keep access to this service free for patients.
